Como describe o seu traballo do SharePoint?

Cantas veces é que isto ocorre con vostede? I’m sitting at my laptop, ler blogs, responder ás mensaxes do foro, 2 copias do Visual Studio aberto e VPN'd a outro servidor co seu propio visual studio + 15 fiestras do navegador (un día típico) e alguén chamado Samantha (miña muller, aparentemente) dime, "We have be there in 30 actas. Get dressed."

Levanto-me en transo, pasear pola casa confusamente, entrar nunha cousa de coche e xunto sei, Estou nunha festa cunha cervexa na man e alguén me pregunta, "So, Cal é a súa profesión?"

Estas conversacións nunca van ben.

Me: "Ahh … Son un arquitecto de solucións da EMC."

Persoa Nameless: evaporado en branco

Me: "I work with a product called SharePoint … é de Microsoft."

UNE-: "Aha! Xa oín falar desa empresa! What is SharePoint?"

Me: "Umm … fai colaboración … persoas empregan para compartir información … É unha plataforma para a construción de Busines sol…"

UNE-: Vidros Ollos.

Me: "I’m a programmer."

UNE-: "Aha! I know people in my company that do programming! When I was in high school, Eu brinquei con BASIC."

E con esa parte da conversa sobre, Voltamo connosco para algo máis doado de falar, como a política.

Calquera coidado para describir a forma na que eles lidan con esta?

    Nós aínda estamos con sorte, Porque aínda podemos recapitular en 2 palabras comprensibles para a media Joe o que facemos para gañar a vida (ordenador cara, programador, Sexa o que sexa). A xente pode relacionarse; case todo o mundo ten ou usa un ordenador.
    Eu me sinto máis pena do meu noivo, que non ten ese luxo. Por unha banda, el é self-employed. Doutra, el ten un fondo científico.
    En cada festa de Nadal da familia, meus tíos e tías preguntar o que fai para vivir. Eles fan isto todos os anos. Os mesmos tíos e tías que o ano anterior. Entón, se atopa unha boa solución, por favor causa share 'Encantaríame ter unha conversa diferente por primeira vez en Nadal. 🙂

    I usually go for "I work in IT" or "I’m a programmer" … I occasionally get people who try to understand "what it’s all about" … but they invariably go "oh yeh .. temos un servidor moito no traballo . senta-se baixo a mesa de Geoff e almacenar todos os nosos correos electrónicos sobre el"

    Naquel momento eu ir e atopar unha bebida máis grande …

    That is very funny and very true. Ironically, non importa o que responder, eu darlles, Estou sempre coñecido (na miña familia) como a cara que sabe como fixar ordenadores.
    Sinceramente, Nunca trully fixa un ordenador…. Acaba de facelos funcionar por tempo suficiente para recuperar os meus datos e, a continuación, comprar un novo.

    WOW! That’s a funny blog! "someone named Samantha (miña muller, aparentemente)"…Eu case caín da materia! Seriously, aínda que…I have this conversation A LOT. I usually just say "i’m a computer guy". That usually shuts them up and I try not to get into any of the gory details about my gig because they really don’t care anyway unless they are in the industry (e por na industria, Realmente quero dicir que son unha persoa SharePoint). 🙂

    Si, post moi divertido. Eu costume dicir, “SharePoint é unha ferramenta de colaboración baseada en web complexo que reúne datos dispares dentro da corporación nun só lugar. Eu axudar a tirar todos os datos en conxunto para que a xente poida traballar en conxunto”. Isto xeralmente trae un ollar baleiro, así, Entón, despois de me dicir que eu traballo en Informática, ás veces din, “Oh Si, temos SharePoint, pero ninguén pode descubrir como usalo.”

    Si, I corrixir os seus ordenadores, pero estou a pensar que si todos nos cobra por el, eles ían deixar de preguntar. Só creo que se preguntase a un encanamento que acaba de coñecer nunha festa para fixar o encanamento de balde! ¿Que pensas que diría? Heh…
