Click Search Settings
Select “File types”
Create new entry with the extension as “pdf”

Place the adobe pdf icon image, you can download it from adobe site.

Add new entry and replace with the icon image filename “<Mapping Key=”pdf” Value=”filename.gif”/>”
- Finally update the environment variable Path with “adobe installation path in drive”
- Restart the search service
Severely lacking. Need to add Office Server key updates, check the \Search\Setup\Filters keys, and add that you have to do a Full Crawl. Not to mention which Adobe path in the Environmental Variables – the “bin” for that DLL or root of that folder (it’s the root, btw, figured it out later). Spent hours combing the ‘net for all the info.
