One of my clients worked with a previous contractor to build out a small but useful HR application for the enterprise. That contractor used SharePoint Designer to implement the workflow portion of the solution. It’s a bit of a mess. દાખલા તરીકે, there are nine SPD workflows in support of a single logical workflow process and up to five of them may fire simultaneously at any given time given the right conditions. It’s not easy to debug 🙂

As SPD workflow implementers know, the “collect data from user” SPD action actually creates a task with a custom content type. When we use that action, we don’t get to specify much. We can prompt for some values (e.g. "માન્ય" અથવા "નામંજૂર") and we can specify a hard coded value in the title and description. That’s about it.

Then you need to click a sort of obscure link on the task item. Then you can look at the underlying data (આ કિસ્સામાં એક ઈન્ફોપાથ ફોર્મ). Then you click back/back, વગેરે. Everyone hates it.

The approach I’m taking right now is to create a custom alert template. તમે અહીં વિશે વાંચી શકે છે. The flow works like this:

- SharePoint system automatically sends out an alert to that manager. This is not part of the SPD workflow but rather “what SharePoint does.” (આ શેરપોઈન્ટ ટાઈમર સેવા, હું માનું).
- એક કસ્ટમ ચેતવણી સંભાળનાર પ્રમાણભૂત ચેતવણી પ્રક્રિયા તરફેણમાં ચલાવી છે (ઉપરોક્ત સંદર્ભ લેખ માં વર્ણવ્યા પ્રમાણે જાદુ નિયમો બાદ).
- મારા કસ્ટમ ચેતવણી સંભાળનાર ચાલે છે ત્યારે, it generates a beautiful email. વધુ મહત્વનુ, તે હાથમાં કાર્ય છે, કારણ કે, તે પણ બિઝનેસ જરૂરિયાત પૂરી કરવા માટે જરૂરી બધા સંદર્ભમાં જાણકારી સાથે વાસ્તવિક કાર્ય શણગારે.
- વપરાશકર્તા ઇમેઇલ નહીં અને તેને ઉપયોગી સંદર્ભ માહિતી સંપૂર્ણ છે.
- કાર્ય લિંક અને કાર્ય પર જાતે વપરાશકર્તા ક્લિક્સ ઉપયોગી સંદર્ભ માહિતી સંપૂર્ણ છે.
- દરેક વ્યક્તિને તરબૂચ અને આઈસ્ક્રીમ હોય ઘર જાય.
I did a quick POC and it works well in a lab environment. I get my custom email alert as expected. I also get to update the task description and title itself.
આ જ મુશ્કેલ બીટ, અત્યાર સુધી, જ્યાં ચેતવણી સુધારાઓ આઇટમ પરિસ્થિતિ ટાળવા માટે છે, triggering another alert. This doesn’t worry me.
અત્યાર સુધી આશાસ્પદ લાગે છે ...
The great thing about this is that I don’t need to muck about with any of the existing SPD workflows. They are blissfully unaware that an alert handler is “IIZ RUNNIN IN DA BAKGROUND, DECORATIN TEH કાર્ય સૂચિ WIF MOAR CONTEXT".
